Steve Thomas book revealspage 215 - the cops gave the DA a presentation of the case t
#2
Reviewing Steve Thomas' book while in COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.

Page 124
"The FBI had been given a chance to look at the note and determined that it was written in the comfort of the home and probably after the killing, not before. The crime scene reflected careful staging, they said, a criminally unsophisticated killer attempting to cover up what had happened."

I need to skip ahead a bit to describe how the FBI had been "educated" in this matter - - carefully and incompletely.
Steve Thomas and a group of LE went to Quantico to present the Ramsey case to the FBI.
Sounds impressive, doesn't it?
It wasn't so much.

Steve Thomas and his BORG partners presented what they wanted and withheld what they wanted.
In his book, page 215 - the cops gave the DA a presentation of the case to prepare for their trip to Quantico.
Thomas admits not sharing everything, specifically he wrote that they "withheld the 911 tape and grave-site surveillance". I believe he also left out the CBI report that identified the foreign DNA found co-mingled with the blood in JonBenet's panties.

DA Alex Hunter wouldn't participate in the trip to Quantico because he didn't believe they had a case against the parents and HE wasn't going to go watch the BPD be less than honest - he KNEW the evidence did not point to the parents.

Lou Smit was sent as a representative of the DA's office but he was not allowed to present the intruder evidence. He had been gagged.

So Steve Thomas had a theory and was making the evidence FIT - - even though it did not. It made no sense to think these parents would write that stupid ransom note before killing their daughter. He had to make sure people thought they wrote it after. Even though neither parent had a motive or matching handwriting, even though Lou Smit had said HE was sure it was written before because even the most vicious killer would have been on an adrenalin high after the crime and unable to write that note, Steve Thomas sold to the FBI and to his "fans" that the note was written before.

Ugh!
