Next to where the body was found, there was a clear imprint from a Hi-Tec boot.  Police were never able to  link that brand to the Ramsey family and, in fact, searched for the boots when looking at other suspects.

Someone may still suspect they know who killed JonBenét and it is important they understand there was a LOT of evidence pointing away from the family, pointing TO an intruder.  They may need the nudge to make the call to solve this mystery at last.

John San Agustin talks about the TWO prints in the basement - - one was Hi-Tec and the other was unidentified. Could be they were older shoes or boots with little "tred" left on them. Important to note - - neither print matched anything in the Ramsey house.

Investigators in the JonBenet Ramsey murder case are asking friends of the family whether they own certain types of shoes, leading some observers to speculate police may have footprint evidence.

"The police came a couple of weeks ago and asked us if we ever owned shoes called SAS or Hi-Tec," said Pam Griffin of Boulder, who made many of JonBenet`s pageant outfits.

Griffin and her teenage daughter, Christine, were asked about the shoes, which one detective told them had distinctive patterns on the soles.

"They`ve got to have a shoe impression of some sort they`re looking at, and I assume it would be in a critical area, either in the basement or maybe her room or some significant area," said former FBI special agent Gregg McCrary, who specializes in criminal profiling.

According to Paula Woodward, she has police reports (#1-1576 and #1-1594) that say all investigators who had been in the room had their shoes tested. No match.

I have been calling the substance on the floor "mold" - - but maybe this is a better explanation. (actually found on a BORG site. Thanks for this.)


A partial footprint with the word HI Tec was found in a spot of efflorescence on the concrete. When you build a concrete foundation, a thin sheet of plastic is placed under the concrete to form a moisture barrier. If there is a hole or tear in the plastic, vapor migrating through the slab will bring soluble salts to the surface of the concrete forming a soft crust at that spot. That is where the partial shoe print was found.
