Ramsey Case News Release #35
Update for March 20
Boulder Police have conducted more than 176 formal police interviews both in Colorado and out of state. The investigation is on track and moving forward. Currently no police investigators are out of state.
  • The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues to analyze handwriting samples, including those provided by Mrs. Patricia Ramsey. The Boulder Police Department has given substantial samples to CBI for analysis and CBI is working on this analysis on a daily basis. The examination of non-testimonial samples continues to be extended as new samples are taken as needed and as police talk to other people who may have had access to the crime scene.

  • The material sent to Cellmark on March 4 is in the analysis process. Police will be advised when the tests are completed. Typically these tests take four to six weeks to complete.

  • Boulder Police did initiate a request to meet with the private investigators who have been retained by the legal counsel for the Ramsey parents. Two of such meetings were held in the past week. Boulder Police will talk with anyone who may have information of use in this investigation.

  • Police investigative expenses to date:
Total expenditures since Dec. 1996: $110,071.68
    Some expenses include:
Police over time (thru 3/9/97) $63,336.86
    1,777 overtime hours in 1997
    Travel (thru 2/28/97) $17,769.28
    Investigative (thru 3/1/97) $5,843.60
